What We Support
Protecting California’s biodiversity
California’s natural heritage includes native plants, wildlife, and habitats that cannot simply be replaced once lost. Our conservation priority focuses on protecting ecologically important properties, especially in Southern California, and supporting the care needed to keep those lands healthy over time.
We seek opportunities to work with landowners, conservation organizations, public agencies, and donors to preserve places with lasting ecological value.
- Preserve important habitats. Help protect lands that sustain native species, sensitive plant communities, wetlands, and other valuable ecosystems.
- Maintain wildlife connections. Support the preservation of corridors and connected habitats that allow wildlife to move, find food, and reproduce.
- Protect water and ecological health. Consider watersheds, seasonal wetlands, and the natural processes that sustain surrounding habitats.
- Support lasting land protection. Explore land donations, conservation easements, and acquisitions with qualified partners, based on each property’s circumstances.
- Plan for responsible stewardship. Encourage realistic plans for restoration, ongoing care, monitoring, and the resources needed to protect conservation value.
- Build informed partnerships. Bring together ecological expertise, local knowledge, willing landowners, and funding partners to evaluate opportunities carefully.
Our goal is to help preserve places whose ecological importance makes them worth protecting for future generations.
Helping neurodivergent individuals find meaning and purpose
Every person deserves opportunities to contribute, form relationships, and build a life that reflects their interests and abilities. We recognize that neurodivergent individuals have varied strengths, aspirations, and support needs. We seek to expand opportunities that begin with the individual and help turn interests and talents into meaningful participation in everyday life.
- Recognize individual strengths. Help people identify their interests, specialized talents, practical abilities, and preferred ways of learning.
- Expand access to mentorship. Encourage supportive relationships that offer guidance, encouragement, connection, and consistent personal attention.
- Open pathways to education and training. Support suitable learning opportunities, vocational programs, and apprenticeships aligned with individual goals and support needs.
- Create opportunities for meaningful work. Encourage employer partnerships, appropriate accommodations, and support that help individuals contribute and develop skills.
- Strengthen community participation. Support volunteering, creative pursuits, recreation, and other activities that build relationships and a sense of belonging.
- Build confidence and independence. Encourage practical life skills, personal choice, and achievable steps toward greater self-direction, with support as needed.
Our goal is to help people experience dignity, belonging, and purpose through opportunities they help choose. Success may mean paid employment, creative expression, volunteering, stronger relationships, or greater participation in daily life.
Helping nonprofits operate more efficiently and effectively
Nonprofits often serve important needs with limited staff, time, and funding. We seek to help organizations strengthen the way they work so their resources can support their mission more effectively. Our approach combines practical guidance, education, connections, and focused support tailored to each organization’s needs.
- Strengthen leadership and governance. Help boards and nonprofit leaders clarify responsibilities, set priorities, and plan for continuity.
- Improve everyday operations. Encourage simpler workflows, useful technology, shared resources, and better coordination of staff and volunteers.
- Support sound financial management. Promote clear budgets, realistic planning, appropriate oversight, and an understanding of program costs.
- Build fundraising capacity. Help organizations communicate their purpose, develop donor relationships, and connect funding requests to clear outcomes.
- Educate boards and donors. Improve understanding of charitable giving options and connect participants with qualified professional guidance when needed.
- Encourage collaboration. Connect organizations with complementary strengths so they can share knowledge, coordinate services, and reduce unnecessary duplication.
- Focus on meaningful results. Help organizations define success, track useful measures, and use feedback to improve their work.
Our goal is to help nonprofits build the capacity to serve well over time, including the people, systems, and infrastructure needed to sustain their mission.
